Scott Watson

One of Symphonia's co-founders, Scott Watson is also co-artistic director, both performing and conducting on many of Symphonia's performances. Currently Professor of Tuba-Euphonium at The University of Kansas, Scott is also a prominent solo artist, chamber musician and pedagogue.

As a soloist he has made ground breaking tours of such countries as Russia and Poland, And has commissioned many important works for tuba from such composers as James Barnes, Walter Hartley, Elliot Schwartz, Charles Hoag, Robert Chamberlin, John Prescott, and Igor Rekhin. He is also tubist with the well known Kansas Brass Quintet who can also be found on Mark Records with their recording of Scrappy Bumptoe's Picturecards and Ragtag Dances by David Holsinger. He is a member of the Kansas City Brassworks, a brass quintet.

In 1999 Scott will assume the presidency of the Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association (T.U.B.A.) where he has served two terms as secretary and on their board of directors. At the University of Kansas, Watson conducts The KU Tuba-Euphonium Consort which is a very active ensemble. Interested in the study of performance anxiety, Watson also presents many clinics across the United States on this topic. Watson has also taught on the faculties of the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri-Kansas City And Baker University.
