Denis W. Winter

Denis Winter, Professor of Low Brass, has served on the faculty of the University of Central Arkansas music department since 1979. He has a national reputation as a euphonium soloist and is a member of Symphonia. Dr. Winter performed as a soloist and adjudicator for the 1996 Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival, hosted by the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan, and he has performed as a soloist with the Little Rock Wind Symphony as well as with numerous college and high school bands. He is currently the principal trombonist with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Professors Trombone Quartet. His degrees include the B.M. from Ohio University, the M.M. from the New England Conservatory of Music, and the D.M.A. from the University of North Texas. Dr. Winter has written articles for the Instrumentalist and the T.U.B.A. Journal, and was a contributor to the Tuba Source Book, published by Indiana University Press. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Band euphonium section from 1975-79.
