Thread: Mouthpiece Lending Library

    Mouthpiece Lending Library

So, I thought about this a few years ago, but it's coming back up after recent conversations.

I've got an absurd collection of mouthpieces - I think I'm up to something like 280, some of which are out of the ordinary or hard to get. I'd love to turn that into something productive for the community.

My thought is something like a lending library so people can "borrow" a piece (or a few), and then return them some period of time later.

I don't need or want this to turn into a money making thing, but there are shipping costs etc to cover.

Does anyone have a feeling one way or the other about whether this would be useful, or what a reasonable "handling" cost would be for that kind of thing?

I'd love to help people avoid going down the insanity rabbit hole I've gone down.

That's a very interesting idea! If you like, we could create a special category to list the mp collection and keep track of borrows & comments.

I'll catalog what I've got this weekend, and we'll go from there.

    Thanks Dave!

Would this be US based only?

Good question. I imagine shipping and customs outside the USA may be prohibitive.

Based in the US, and I think this sounds like a great idea! My fellow band mates don't understand the importance of equipment and this would be fantastic way to show them.

Silly question: hygiene? If I were participating I would want to sterilize each mouthpiece received before trying it. I've bought some used mouthpieces in the past, and I've done just that. I'm thinking that any participant should be required to sign an acknowledgement that they are responsible for sterilizing the mouthpiece before they try it. This way the person running it won't be liable for any subsequent illness.
