Thread: New Besson Prestige Euph Case

  1. New Besson Prestige Euph Case

In Steven Mead's latest video from the Besson factory, he showcases a new case that Prestige euphoniums (and possibly Sovereigns as well?) will be shipping in. Very different design from the current one.

Also shows the new trigger guard design, as well as some nice trio playing with Les Neish and James Blackford!

Thanks for posting that! Nice playing on the video. The case looks interesting (and a bit like the one I saw on the Elliott euphonium's page). I wonder how it competes with the new version of the Wiseman case (the one made of birch) that Steven sells through his website:

it definitely looks a lot more wear resistant, with the handle and the locking clasps instead of only a zipper. Just from the looks of it, a good improvement.

I bought a prestige and was fortunate to be supplied with the new case.
the general construction of the case is very good, lightweight. the backpack straps are comfortable and well made.
The outer material looks like it will hold up to the odd scrape, but time will tell.

Can anyone get a screen shot? Mr. Mead blocked me because I had the audacity to email him and politely ask about the status of help he had promised to provide.

Here you go! Looks like it is designed for backpack straps that hold the case bell-down.

It will be interesting to see, anyway. I'm allowing for the shell to have a patterned hard material, rather than what looks like fabric. If it is made of the right stuff, it may not get dirty, and the pattern might help hide scuffs. Or not. I hope someone reports in with some experience at some point.

Buffet is pretty smart about building stuff, but I'm not sure these aren't outsourced to an actual case maker (likely, I suppose). I don't recall seeing a surface design like that before.
