E1 SS bell with E2 valve set changing for E3 gold with SS bell

    Hi all
I have the opportunity to recieve an E3 gold laquer with sterling silver bell made 2016
I got an offer to change my E1 with SS bell ,satin silver finish, with trigger and E2 valve block - made 2012, to trade for E3 Sterling Silver bell, without a trigger
What are you thoughts, at least E3 is 4 years younger
    Thank you

Hi Simon, are you able to test the e3? It is not a matter of better/worse, but probably is different. My advise would be to pick the instrument that suites you best. Do you miss anything in the sound of the e1 you currently own? The age difference would definitely not bother me.

    Thank You for your advice

unfortunately i dont have anywhere in my country ( Croatia ) where to test an E3. I read some reviews about E3 and it seems that it suits good with the brass orchestra and some solo parts.

If only i had the possibility of testing it.

Anyone here , that had played both ones, to share me some tips?

    Thank You

Is the metal thickness the same for your E1 and the E3?

In general, the E3 will give you a larger sound. If you are familiar with comparing an older Besson Sovereign 968 with the 967, or a Prestige 2051 with a 2052, the type of change is similar.

Moving to an E3 with a normal valve block and no trigger will probably lead to you feeling more free as you play the horn, and you will probably notice a more open sound from the E3.

Both are good instruments. If you are happy with your current E1 and if it gives you the sound and projection you want, there is no particular reason to trade.

    Thank you Mr Werden

The thickness of E1 i have is 0,60 and from E3 is 0,50

Does it a big difference in opening sound or ?

    thx

I've never tested an Adams E3 with .50 metal. That thinner metal would enhance the instrument's feel of liveliness, but would take away a bit from its ability to handle lots of power from the player. I should also mention that the SS bell is soft and easily dented/bent on my .60 E3. A .50 bell would really need to be taken care of! (On the other hand, it would be easier to fix if dented or bent)

Here are some updated specs / prices (from the booklet handed out at ITEC 2023). I trimmed out a bunch of "white space" to make the images more readable on the web.

    Selected models, I believe:
