Search Engine Ranking Examples |
This page shows examples of our registration success. We have focused on Alta Vista as our benchmark because that engine does more searches than all of its competitors combined. Results may vary from day to day, but should be similar to the ranking listed in the tables below. 1. We registered some special feeder pages to direct searches to CD-Now for the soundtrack of Armageddon, much of which was record by Aerosmith. For the search phrase "aerosmith armageddon" the positions are shown below for the feeder pages at www.dwerden.com/soundtrack and www.intxxnet.com/vispages.
2. We registered Boyer Ford's web site (www.boyerford.com) and created meta tags for the pages to help with search engine visibility. They sell Ford and Sterling heavy trucks, buses, and truck parts. A search for ford trucks mn now yields very effective results.
3. We have registered www.dwerden.com, a publisher of books for the euphonium (a brass musical instrument). This is a very small business with only four items for sale. However, searching for euphonium books will place this site well above other book retailers such as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. Below are the rankings that appear in the top 20 listings within each engine.
4. We put up an example database site on our Web Design Samples page, in this case listing recordings by Doc Severinsen (www.dwerden.com/doc). We registered this site as an experiment, with the results shown below. There are only two pages on the site that are not data driven based on user input, so there is not much content for the search engines' automated software to catalog. However, when searching for "doc severinsen" recordings the results are excellent on this very new site, standing well above sites such as TowerRecords.com and CDNow.com.
5. We registered Channel 6000 in Portland Oregon (www.channel6000.com). They are a news and information site with cooperative agreements with Portland businesses. For the search phrase portland oregon news weather the results are:
6. We developed a Star Wars and Star Trek links site, mostly as a demonstration of JavaScript and the use of frames for navigation. However, we registered it with the search engines (in an extremely competitive category area). The site has no actual content, but merely links to other sites, so we used "feeder pages" to pass people into the site. The feeder pages are under the domain intxxnet.com, and the site itself is www.intxx.com/scifi. Results for star wars star trek movies are:
