Symphonia at Interlochen.

The Symphonia Tuba-Euphonium Workshop at Interlochen will be an inspiring three days of study, performance, clinics and fellowship for tuba and euphonium players. Open to high school, college, amateur and professional musicians, this performance-oriented workshop will be an intensive educational experience with world class artists. The 2003 event will be held June 21-23 at the famed Interlochen Center for the Arts in the beautiful woods of northern Michigan.

THE COURSE
Each day of the workshop will begin with group warm-ups and daily routines, followed by clinics on all facets of performance. Each participant is encouraged to perform at master classes and/or clinics during the workshop. These will be scheduled at registration. Each participant will also be assigned to an ensemble, which will perform during the workshop. Private lessons will also be available as faculty schedules permit (extra charge). Symphonia will present two performances, and faculty will present a recital of solo and jazz works. Each day will be full of new ideas and inspiring sessions.

ARTIST FACULTY
Symphonia, the super sonic ensemble in the alternate clef, has been acclaimed for their breathtaking performances and recordings. As the world’s foremost low brass ensemble, Symphonia consists of legendary artists in every chair of this tuba-euphonium chamber orchestra. Its three recordings on Mark records have been met with critical acclaim, showing the group’s amazing versatility with new works for the tuba-euphonium, effective transcriptions and jazz. Symphonia recently released its third disc, titled Symphonia Fantastique! Symphonia has appeared in such prestigious venues as the Brevard Music Festival, International Tuba-Euphonium Conference, Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, Great American Brass Band Festival, US Army Conference, Texas Music Educators Association Conference and with the Grant Park Symphony. ABOUT INTERLOCHEN
Interlochen Center for the Arts, centered between two lakes in the woods of northwest lower Michigan, has been training young artists from around the world since 1928. It is home to the Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen Arts Camp, Interlochen Pathfinder School, Interlochen Arts Festival and Interlochen Public Radio.

Interlochen Arts Camp High School Division will receive free admittance to the workshop (after May 31, a $50 late fee will apply). Workshop participants will be able to attend some of Interlochen's regular performances.

Received before May 31, 2003 - $225
After May 31, 2003 - $275
Partial attendance day rate - $100/day
Registration check-in begins the evening of Friday, June 20.
By registering before May 31, 2003, tuba and euphonium students attending the 2003 Interlochen Arts Camp High School Division will receive free admittance to the workshop (after May 31, a $50 late fee will apply). Workshop participants will be able to attend some of Interlochen's regular performances.

HOUSING
Housing is available at the Stone Center Hotel. Rates range between $80 and $100 for a double occupancy hotel room or scholarship lodge. To make a reservation, please complete the Payment & Housing Reservation form. Upon request, you may also be sent a list of recommended area hotels. You are encouraged to make your hotel reservation early, as there is great demand for rooms during the summer. Please note, Interlochen is a smoke- and alcohol-free campus.

All registered workshop participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during off-hours of the workshop.

MEALS
Meal plans may be purchased for 3 days, 3 meals per day, for $54, plus 6% Michigan sales tax, per person. Please include an additional $57.24 in your registration fee if you would like the meal plan for all three days. For those not attending all three days, individual meal tickets may be purchased on campus at the Stone Center Hotel.
