    Chuck Daellenbach

I saw Canadian Brass yesterday evening in Hamburg, Germany. Phenomenal show and really great playing from all 5.

I am a trombonist/partly euphonium player and don't know much about tubas.

Chuck Daellenbach sounded great on his carbon fibre bell tuba. I was wondering if the bell proportions of his instrument are somewhat special? I really have no clue, but to me it looked like a relatively lean bell throat with a comparably large flare at the end.

  2. Chuck's tuba is still the old Getzen G 50 design (it was for two years available as Canadian Brass CB-50), which he is playing for decades now, after the 1970s Yamaha sponsorship ended. The carbon fibre bell was his wish for reducing weight for the amazing stage show.

    Thanks for the insights!

To me it just looked unusual - probably also because I normally only see rotary F anc Bb tubas here in Germany.
I thought it looked relatively small, but sounded surprisingly full.
Overall it was really impressive how Chuck is cotinueing to play at this extremely high level!

But as said, I have no clue about tubas.
