Is the mouthpiece you got with the 2900 labeled as a Willson 51D? I have a mouthpiece from a 2900 and it is labeled as a Willson TA-1.

I wonder why mine came with the 5D? I don't think it's older; its serial number seems higher than all the demo units Dillon has sold (they're coming close, though).

All the Shires Euphoniums I've gotten at Paige's - from the Bravo all the way up to the Custom series- have come with a 5D.

Edit - Also, I've always found the 51D to feel bigger on the chops than the 52D. Go figure!

I think that the “TA-1” labeled ones are older (from the 80s for sure…maybe later). I know they were similar to the 51Ds.

Mine was a demo from Dillion’s and came with the Shires 5G.

I’d suggest including photos. I had a doctorate level tuba professor from Texas rip me off on a mouthpiece sale. I thought I’d be okay just listing the thing but oh no. Dude was given a pass because of his credentials. My biggest fault was not including a photo. Just because you have a DMA doesn’t mean you’re not a POS.

I appreciate your concern, but I have made plenty of sales and purchases on this forum so I have plenty of references and am always happy to provide photos to anyone who asks. Plus, I am not a professor. I sell instruments and accessories for a living. It'd be pretty stupid of me to be a "POS" on here and completely undermine my integrity as a seller and thus my livelihood.
