    Roger Bobo News

I saw this link on Facebook. I thought that the community would want to know. Perhaps some of you already do. If you have any more info, and if you can, please share what you know. Mr. Bobo is an icon in my low brass pantheon.

Bobo's text for tuba was the first I bought when I started playing tuba in 2009. Very grateful for his instruction through the text. I suppose the only other tubist with equal skills might be Arnold Jacobs, but that is another subject for another day. Best regards to him in his recovery.

I read two Facebook posts that suggest the Maestro, Roger Bobo, passed away a day or two ago. Can anyone confirm?

Okay. A little more research and I am finding that he passed on Feb. 12th of this year. "Rest in peace and play on."

Thanks for posting that followup Sara. Very sad to hear. Mr. Bobo was a marvelous musician! He received ITEA's Lifetime Achievement Award at the ITEC conference in Greensboro, NC in 2002. I heard him say after hearing Oystein Baadsvik play "Fnugg" that is was the first new thing heard on tuba in a very long time.

May Roger Bobo rest in peace.

Respectfully, John Fletcher easily the equal of those two. But sad news, a masterful musician.
