Well, in Matt summers’ hands it sounds amazing, and his tutorial about it was very enlightening.

In my position it looks like it would work very well. I know enough to stay in my lane, and since my end goal is and always will be to cover the part in the wind ensemble music I love, it would definitely work.

In his video Matt pulled the valves, demonstrated how and when to use the 5th valve and so on. I was already pretty set on a Sonic and this makes it even better. So we wait…….

Ann - Can you direct me to the video you are talking about above? Thanks.

There’s a link in Matt Summers’ comments on the “Euphonium Players” page on FaceBook, and the performance of “Party Piece” is linked in the page for the conference.

He played Party Piece on the 5 valve, and of course it was amazing.

Matt summers has a brief descriptive video on FB and also wrote some fingerings in a post on the FB Euphonium Players page.

Well, in Matt's comments, there is a link to a video. I went to the video then got a message that said it had been removed by the uploader.

I didn't find "Party Piece", but then again, I am not a member of Facebook. Although I could see postings on the Euphonium Players page.

    So no luck finding anything.

I did find "Party Piece" on the TUSAB website. They have videos of the entire Tuba/Euphonium Workshop. It didn't look like he was playing the 5-valve euphonium, but I couldn't tell for sure.

I think today was the first time the 5 valve was played in public.
