Yep, I had it in the checkout cue and was just about to buy it, and stopped to take a closer look at the 5050....glad I did!

Just for a visual on what I'm talking about. It might be a bit hard to see from the pictures, but the diameter is noticeably larger on the ABC.

I just got an unsolicited email notification that my order had been shipped today, with an anticipated transit time of 12 days. Yay me! And them!

The heavy bottom cap for my Shires horn has had the shipping label created...but it is not yet trackable. So, it may take a while. (and still waiting for them to process the order for my Sterling horn.)

Not at all surprising. They actually just refunded me a discount for the multiple orders I have placed with them. (I never asked, it was just freely offered and given.)

                Hello!

I went ahead and ordered one for my early 2000's besson sovereign after reading this thread and seeing some of the videos posted. The customer service has been outstanding. I wasn't sure which one would fit my uk made besson sovereign as I didn't see that specific option on their website. So they're sending me two different abc caps to ensure I get one with the correct threading. I paid for one normally including shipping and I was told to keep the other as a compliment. Just phenomenal service. Can't wait to try it out.

I received mine today (for my Q41) and, unfortunately, mine is too big as well. (First time this has happened…three others ordered and were the correct size.)

When you said you got the wrong one, I started to get worried. And my worries we’re founded.

Pretty bummed considering how long I waited for this one…

                    Hello Everyone, England calling.

Thank you for all your comments; much appreciated. We're keen on high quality machined ABCs and equally as important for us is high quality customer service. This is because we're all old here at ABC and learnt from the good old days of decent and attentive service.

For all Boosey & Hawkes Sovereign and Besson Sovereign and Prestige Euphoniums, we've taken the decision to supply the two different 4th Valve Casing Threads that both companies used from 1978 through to current production, including those made in the French factory for a short space of time. No extra cost and the ABC Nut that doesn't fit can be used as a paperweight with our compliments! It's just part of our service and ensures customer satisfaction.

The vast majority of threads have been calculated and engineered by us and fit perfectly, but regretfully the Shires thread is proving a problem. That said, we'll get there and produce a perfectly fitting ABC soonest.

The UK Post Office suffered a cyber attack mid-January and they stopped all shipments abroad. For us and countless other UK businesses it proved a difficult time, but the problem has now been resolved and from the end of February, shipments were back to normal, with about two weeks to the US from the day we receive your order and three weeks to Japan and beyond.

ABCs for the Makes and Models we list are in always in stock, as we benefit from making them ourselves on Lily the Lathe, as pictured here with yours-truly.

We ship ABCs worldwide on a daily basis, simply because they work. Our one month without obligation trial service with a full refund within twenty-four hours of receiving the ABC back at HQ we know is appreciated and we've only ever had one returned out of the thousands sold.

All the best from Chris, Billy, Karl and Sybil in the Office

This sounds dumb and more than likely has been explained.

                        Why are these necessary?

For me, they help with slotting notes (which, as you might expect, is one of the advertised advantages.)

Here is a video comparing my horn with and without the ABC:

Here is another comparison, using the older HBC:

                                Interesting.

Looks like there’s one for Meg Sterling.
