I have a 967. Will the standard strap work or is Dave's double strap the way to go?

Probably either would work, but it might depend on how short a leash you want. Valerie is planning to make the double strap the standard model, so I would suggest going with that. I don't find any disadvantage with it, and it does offer more fine-tuning of mounting.

I'm actually fond of my single-strap ones. Now they will be collector's items.

(Quick Horn Rinse actually makes one that is functionally the same (single-strap) but isn't nearly as nice (it os more utilitarian-looking and has a large QHR advert prominently displayed on it).)

Some folks have expressed concern about the double-strap design, figuring that one of the straps would do most of the work, and that it might not be strong enough. Valerie put this on her Facebook page. She hung 2 gallons of water by the double strap, and then hung them on a single strap from the double design. FYI, 2 gallons of water weigh about 16.6 pounds. My Adams with the sterling silver bell is 10.5 pounds. Photos below.

Well that certainly seems conclusive. What a way to show customers that their concerns are addressed. Now I know what I am going to buy whenever I need a horn strap.

For a John Packer 274S, do you recommend a double or single strap. Thanks for any help on this.

Nice! Definitely should not have a problem if it can do that!

Good question, I have no idea! I know on my Schiller I could never quite get the single strap to feel great, but the double strap felt amazing. It still does feel amazing on my New Standard.

I can't say enough about how helpful and nice to work with Valerie is, I would recommend emailing her and asking if she has any customer feedback on the JP274 that may help your decision.

Good suggestion! I was going to say that if you want to order one without specific advice, the double strap is probably safer because it has more flexibility.
