I wonder if nickel plating and silver plating have noticably different tonal qualities? I imagine it's pretty negligible in this case, but every bit of metal will affect the tone somehow

I am soon to get my hands on a silver-plated Monzani stencil…which should be, otherwise, nearly identical to my nickel-plated Schiller. We’ll see if I can discern a difference.

I play a silver nickel baritone horn. I never had any issues with matching my section mates in tone color/qualities. Mine was a JinBao and theirs was a Besson silver plate. We were both amateurs in a church band. A data point for you, if nothing else.

I've never played the same horn with each plating option, but I suspect the different in tone would be small. Perhaps about as much as between lacquer and silver plate.
