As Sean Kissane has clarified the provenance of Eastman/Shires horns, my own post is not only unnecessary but also partially incorrect. I am deleting it.

So, do they import valve blocks and so forth from Eastman for assembly in Massachusetts (for the "higher end" horns)??

Shires makes all their parts in their Massachusetts factory, and are even moving silver plating in-house. The Q series are assembled at Eastman, and the custom series are 100-percent Massachusetts. The Bravo line, I believe, are Shires designs produced by Eastman.

Edit: I'm not a hundred percent sure on whether the Q Pistons and the Custom pistons are the same. I do know that Mike Taylor bought a Solo model from (I believe) Trent Austin that had a Q serial number, but that may have been an early prototype?

My personal Solo horn has serial number 102, and I believe the Custom that was shown alongside it at Midwest last year was serial 101.

Thank you Sean for the clarification... To avoid any further confusion, I have deleted my own partially incorrect posts on the subject.
