Thoughts (/experience?) regarding questionable eBay listings...

    ...like this one.

I'm not looking to purchase. But if listings like this were legit, those in the market for a mid-tier horn could get a "much better than mid-tier" horn for the same price.

It's probably a legitimate listing. The 621 is NON compensating. The 4th valve placement would be good for someone with very small hands, but I think most adults would find it awkward. The 621 never made much of a market penetration in the USA (maybe it was built for typically smaller Japanese hands??).

Huh. I didn’t realize it was non-compensating. I thought it was simply an earlier model to the 642.

Someone who owns both a 641 and 842 told me the 641 IS compensating.

Guess I need to research this.

He's right, but the auction you linked is for a six-TWENTY-one.

That’s not nearly as good of a price as when I thought it was a 641. LOL

I owned one, and preferred it to the ubiquitous 321.
3+1 supports a larger 4th valve loop, and the large-shank receiver (and perhaps other qualities) gave it a higher volume ceiling.
In short, it's as nimble and "pick up and playable" as the 321, but otherwise better.
I've got good-sized hands, too, and loved the ergo.
I think this particular one is way over-priced, though.

Does Yamaha consider this as its “professional” non-compensating euphonium?

Might work for me. Will Yamaha import them to their dealers here in the US?

Probably student/(maybe) collegiate model. I know back in the late 80s, it would be considered at least a college-level horn. (It was recommended to me, and I purchased, a Holton-branded YEP-321 (forget what the Holton model number was). Which is, basically, this horn but with 4 top action valves instead of 3+1. (folks, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
