Thread: Why so cheap??

  1. #51
    Love all the pics!

One thing you may notice as you play the horn is the way it may vibrate in your hands. That, of course, is part of its design concept. At some point I learned that when I'm really supporting the sound (loud or soft) AND have found the center of each pitch I'm playing, the vibration is way more noticeable. I'm pretty sure that when I'm playing this brass instrument correctly, it gives me more feedback in my hands. Kinda neat, actually.

Pics of the ABC 4th valve, heavy bottom cap installed…and a few leather protective pieces added…

One perhaps superfluous word of caution (from personal experience). Leather tannins can tarnish silver horns.
I used to fashion custom leather bottom bow boots for my horns, and found it helpful to line the inner side of the leather with a thin piece of cotton fabric. I'd imagine this is less of an issue with commercial leather instrument products.

These were on my previous horn for nearly a dozen years without issue. (that horn was nickel-plated though) I THINK there is fabric on the underside though...

Does the outside pocket have the option to detach from the rest of the case? It looks a bit slim to be able to carry much music. A pocket that can carry music is a plus in a case in my book.

I believe the pocket is removable, yes. (Not near the case right now to verify.)

It’s roomier than it looks like in the pics. I’ll post some pics with some booklets in it tomorrow.

    Larry,

Have you had a chance to play your new Adams?

I have, and am enjoying it quite a bit.

I have my first band rehearsal with the new horn later this (Tuesday) afternoon. Hoping to share some thoughts this evening.
