Interestingly, the eBay post also includes a screen shot of an email between the seller and Peter Hirsbrunner confirming the model of the horn. Looks like they closed their doors in 2019. Very nice horn.

I mean... I like Hirsbrunner as much as the next guy, but this price seems ridiculous to me.

  4. I have to agree with you there, it is in excellent condition. However, that’s a hard price to swallow!

It was not unnoticed by me, but I decided to list it. The horn looks like new, and of course they don't make them now. If someone is a HB fan it might be worth it. The HB was always my second choice in euphoniums, losing out to Besson/Sterling only because I liked their sound a bit better.

It will be interesting to see if it sells. BTW, in the description the seller says this, which might be true for a premier brand like Hirsbrunner:
Instruments of this caliber do not go down in price over time.

  6. Did another company pick up the Hirsbrunner mandrels/tools?
Are they going to make similar euphonia?

    Thanks.

From what I understand, Adams now owns much of, if not all of the Hirsbrunner tooling. The E3 is based on the Hirsbrunner euph models, and I believe several of their tuba models are based on Hirsbrunner designs.

Would things like replacement valve guides be able to be acquired for this horn?

Hirsbrunner uses Bauerfeind valves. Same guides as Willson, Adams, and older Sterling. Probably orderable from Adams.
