I seem to remember that the particular finish of this euphonium was done with a process of galvanic plating in black nickel, however beautiful. The Hirsbrunner euphoniums are quite popular in my part of country ( I live a stone's throw from the Swiss border): they are considered the Rolls Roices of euphoniums and and those who have them keep them tight. Pity that Peter Hirsbrunner has retired and these beauties are no longer produced.
