Thread: A Fully Customised Euphonium

  1. A Fully Customised Euphonium

    Hello everyone,

I have spent quite a lot of time exploring the leading Euphonium brands and each brand seems to offer a unique aspect to their design for example Yamaha Euphonium's have a fully adjustable trigger system which can be adapted to the persons hand and Adams Euphonium's have an adjustable gap receiver which can adjust the gap between the mouthpiece and the leadpipe.

I often wonder if all these unique systems could be combined into one instrument as sometimes selecting one instrument can mean that you miss out on some quite unique and helpful devices.

I was rather curious if you could have any device on your instrument what would you have and why?

The only thing I’d change on my E2 is I’d make the trigger attachment - not the mechanism which is excellent - but the screws that attach the adjustable rod to the tuning slide - Allen keys rather than world’s tiniest slot head screw. Better still the Besson snapon attachments.

I’ve experimented with the adjustable receiver and there is palpable difference, which I didn’t expect. I know a lot of people profess being able to tell the difference of 0.00000000005mm in metal gauge but I honestly didn’t expect the difference to be so profound. Ironically it’s ended up where it began - screwed all the way in.

Other than the Besson trigger attachment, I can’t think of a single facet of another hooter I wish was on my Adams.

  5. Hello Magikarp,

I actually had the opportunity to test an Adams E2 Euphonium recently and I was absolutely blown away by the sound and the build quality of the instrument. I have to admit that my perfect instrument would have a number of different aspects all inspired by the top Euphonium brands that are currently on the market!

I really hope that everything is keeping well at your end!
