Thread: 642 Neo hard case in overhead bin?

  1. Question 642 Neo hard case in overhead bin?

Can someone tell me if a Yamaha 642 Neo original hard case will fit in a typical airplane's overhead bin? Particularly Delta?

  2. I don't have a Neo, but I would *highly* doubt that the hard case (or really any euphonium hard case, aside from maybe a Marcus Bonna) will fit in the overhead bins of most aircraft, even larger ones used on long-haul international flights. In addition to being too tall (at the bell) to fit, stock hard cases are often too wide to fit in the overhead unfortunately.

If you can buy or borrow a soft case/gig bag, that's your best bet for being able to carry it on and fit it in the overhead bin. You can also ask to place your euph in the coat closet if by chance there's isn't space in the overhead.

Here's a page from TheHornGuys website with good tips on flying with your instrument. It's a few years old, but the information is still relevant.
