    Can anyone identify this tuba?

My section mate Audrey recently was given an old tuba - small bell flare and three rotary valves. We can't find any manufacturer's markings. It's pitched in BBb. Can anyone identify it? Manufacturer and vintage, perhaps? Those pennies on the rotors were already glued on when Audrey got the horn. Thanks.

I'd say pre-war german or bohemian. Any chance it's for sale?

I will ask her. Audrey works at Sam Ash and she sees a lot of unusual instruments that people come in trying to sell.

  4. I agree with German/Bohemian. Without to much nickel silver trim and fancy details it was a "budget" model of some small maker, copying the main features of the omnipresent Bohland&Fuchs. The horseshoe plates on the valve casings tell a birth date after ca.1910, the overall style says 1920s.

Audrey has decided it's for sale. She's asking $300, local pickup in Westchester County, NY. If you're interested, I'll put you in direct touch with her.
