Special tribute to Ukraine suffering
Yesterday we shared a concert with two exceptional vocalists, Molly Anne Ross (soprano) and Juan Mansilla (baritone). We played the middle portion of "Fiddler on the Roof" as a tribute to the those suffering in Ukraine; "Far from the Home I Love". This was not listed on our program but it was very well received by the audience.
"Far From the Home I Love" (from Fiddler on the Roof)
Here are the lyrics sung in case you can't catch them all...
How can I hope to make you understand
Why I do what I do?
Why I must travel to a distant land
Far from the home I love
Once I was happily content to be
As I was, where I was
Close to the people who are close to me
Here in the home I love
There where my heart has settled long ago
I must go, I must go
Who could imagine I'd be wand'ring so
Far from the home I love?

Nice idea.
I'm reminded of a snippet...
Rabbi: I have blessings for everyone
Villager: Even for the Czar?
Rabbi [pauses, thinks and then in Majestic voice]: May God bless___, and keep the Czar... ... ... far away from us!
