Thread: Mouthpiece For Jazz

  1. Mouthpiece For Jazz

For anyone who plays jazz on euphonium, do you change mouthpiece for that? What is your thinking? Thanks.

If I were to play jazz now, I would surely switch to a smaller mouthpiece for that purpose! The reason we play mouthpieces in the 4 range is that we want a big, dark euphonium sound. That kind of sound is not very jazzy, not to mention that it makes the usual range of jazz charts pretty darned unreasonable!
