Thread: FS: Shires Q41S Euphonium - PRICE DROP

Thumbs up FS: Shires Q41S Euphonium - PRICE DROP

This is the well-reviewed Shires compensating euphonium, with the nice hard case. Very fine condition except for a round dent on the bottom bow (in photo below with a stick-on arrow to point it out). If I were looking for this model I would consider this seriously and plan on leaving the dent as is. Because it involved the bottom bow cap it would not be a simple fix, and it should not affect the playing qualities at all. Buy-it-now for $3,900 (or make an offer):

    ITEM SOLD FOR $3,600

Here is an interesting data point.... This is almost $400 below the Q40 demo unit offered by Dillon for $4495 at:

What might be the cost of repairing the bottom bow?

I have no idea about the repair cost; I'm sure it varies greatly depending on the shop.

But my point was if I were buying I'd just ignore it and enjoy playing the horn. My Sterling Virtuoso was not packed well by Custom Music and came in an undersize box. The bottom bow had a 2" or so flat dent that was easy to see. It bothered me a lot, but I decided to keep it. After a while I more-or-less forgot about, or at least I stopped caring. It certainly didn't hamper the horn in any way. Mine was the best playing Virtuoso I tested as I went to various shows later and played on others.

I'm just saying it would be a reasonable decision to save the money on this horn and not bother with a repair.
