I play in the Rapid City (South Dakota) New Horizons Band and my section mate, Leo Getsgo, will be 94 this year!! Still going, still playing. I plan to do the same or at least as long as I can.
Leo was awarded a WWII Victory Medal.

What a great and inspiring story! Thanks for sharing.
The teacher I started with (on trumpet) at age 12 was Howard Sickler. He continued playing trumpet in several bands until he was 94. He had a marvelous tone even at 94. Howard took lessons from Renold Schilke in Chicago when he was younger. I remember him requiring me to use 1-1/4C mpc — which was tough for high notes, but the tone was great.

Indeed, Renold Schilke! 94 seems to be a good age. Not that he plays euphonium, but Doc Severinsen is 94 and still playing, giving classes, etc. What an inspiration! I was a smoker (dumb) for so many years (finally quit about 10 years ago), and I thought 70 would be a great age to make it to. I will be 75 this year, playing in a bunch of ensembles, and I have no intention of stopping, ever.
