Thread: Ebay: Willson Euphonium $3800

  1. Thumbs up Ebay: Willson Euphonium $3800

This isn’t my sale, but this looks like a fantastic deal!

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/234278972368

This looks to be in very good condition and comes with a BB1. I’ve never seen one of these go for under $4000, so I don’t think it will last long. I’d consider buying it, but I’ve never tried one of these or any professional horn for that matter (Super excited for Midwest next month so I can change that!!). Anyway, just thought I’d share. Maybe someone else can jump in and confirm that this is actually a good deal since I’m no expert.

Oh wow, I actually purchased this horn. I've been looking for a Willson for a bit and was afraid it wouldn't last so quickly just pulled the trigger. I can't wait to try it!

Congratulations on the purchase, and welcome to the forum! Did you learn about the horn here?

I didn't get a chance to respond to the original posts, but my opinion of Willsons is that they are built to last (much as the old British Bessons were). A well-used Willson could still have a lot of life left in it!

Are you all set to go with a medium-shank mouthpiece or your own? If not, the BB1 should do just fine if it is close to what you are used to already.

    Hi, Dave! And thank you
Actually, no, I just happened to come across the listing today and was surprised to see this post on here later. I currently have a King 2280 as well as a JP-374 and am using a Dennis Wick 5AL mouthpiece. I have never been able to play a Willson but I have loved the sound that I hear from them in recordings and was confident that it would be a horn that I really enjoy. I may have to consider letting go of the other two now!

That BB1 will be a fantastic upgrade from the 5AL, IMO!
