Rhythmic/popular music w. euphonium?

Hello everyone

I've been a rhythmic music player for all of my life, but I have recently discovered and delved into the world of brass instruments. Trumpets and trombones are everywhere in rhythmic/popular music, but I have had trouble finding many, if any at all, songs, artists or bands featuring euphonium, baritone etc.

I absolutely love the sound of the euphonium. It's like a weighting blanket covering and comforting your heart. Do you guys know of any rhythmic songs that feature an euphonium? I would love to hear some!

The thing coming closest that I have found is Leon Russell's famous song A Song For You, in which he himself plays a simple but hauntingly beautiful baritone horn from the second verse (from 0:45).

I'm not quite sure what you are looking for. There are examples of euphonium in jazz, for example. In pop there are a few uses. The original version of "What the World Needs Now" opened with solo euphonium and hand more euphonium as the song went on. And at least one version of the Beatles' "Michelle" used euphonium in one place.

Many of us who play the euphonium feel as you do. It can be beautiful and effective when used in popular genres, but the tradition just isn't there, nor are many players, even the best, comfortable in those styles. It's a double for trombone players, as in this west coast jazz arrangement of "Tom Dooley." Beginning about 25 seconds in there is a good closeup of the trombone section doubling on euphonium while carrying the melody (and they sound fine!).
