Stand Options for an Eb Alto (Tenor) horn with front facing bell?

    Hello,
Any recommendations on a stand for an Alto Horn with a front facing bell?

The Hercules Stands DS552B is listed for Tuba/Euphonnium but appears it might be a bit large for an Alto and not sure the facing bell will rest in the upper holder.
Unfortunately no local music stores have one in stock so I can't trial fit.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or recommendations!

Send me the width of your horn and a picture (which you can post here). Or if no picture, the brand and model of horn you have. I can look it up. I have a K&M stand that is adjustable, but not sure how small it gets, but if you send me your data, I will check it out and get back to you.

    And welcome to the forum!!

        Darryl,

Okay, I looked online and found a few of those horns to look at, but I can't find any measurements. Can you measure the horn's width? It will sit in a stand like this:

Actually, K&M bills the stand as a baritone and tenor horn stand. I think it will work, but give me the width of your horn in a standing position and measure it about 10 inches from the bottom. I am quite certain the exact stand I have will work for your alto horn.

It is 8 1/2 inches in width measured about 10 inches from the bottom or just below the finger hole/valve body.

My stand, which I just now measured, when the two side arms are positioned in their smallest width, is 8 3/8 inches in width. So, it may very well work for you.

              John,
Really appreciate the research and assistance! I'll have to try and check out the stand next time I'm in a local with larger music stores.
              Thanks and regards!

Good morning John (smile). Do you have an extra stand for sale, or did I miss something? I would like to get a stand for my horn, but have a $50 budget. The K & M stands I see online all go for substantially more than that. Yes, I know about the stand at Wessex Tubas, but they are all out of stock.

                  Hi Sara (big smile),

Unfortunately, I have no stand for sale. Was just providing Darryl with some measurements of my K&M stand. I actually have two of them, one in the baritone/euphonium size and one in the tuba size. I do use them both and highly recommend them. And you are right, they are a bit on the pricey side. I have had the baritone/euphonium stand for perhaps 15 or more years and it is still going strong. I use it exclusively at home where I keep my horn out so I can easily just pick it up and play whenever the mood strikes me (often). And take it with me everywhere my horn goes. Hope you can find one for sale, but if owners of them are like me, they won't be parting with them much I think.

                  John
