        Dieter,

Wow! Beautiful. I forwarded this to my brother, a minister in Reno, NV. He sends daily Meditations to his congregants once or twice a day. I hope he can use this to inspire the peace and tranquility it inspired in me!

          Dieter,

That is a really lovely piece of music! Thanks so much for sharing. I have listened to it at least 5 times already. Do you have any connections with the musicians or bands in Belgium? This Hans fellow is superlative on euphonium.

Marvellous work performed with profound sensitivity.

I am curious about which might be the euphonium and mouthpiece being used.

My brother sent this out to his fellowship last night. It explains the context and for the lovely performance and the message behind the music.

              "Good Evening Community fellowship!

Luke 1: 26-29: In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you."

My brother, Doug, sent me this meditation. It is a setting for wind ensemble and euphonium of an ancient prayer to Mary. The visual is of a sunrise over a shrine to Mary located in Senorbi on the island of Sardinia.

Deus ti salvet Maria, arranged by Hardy Mertens and played by Hans Demeurisse, euphonium and the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Guides https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPMz2q5PCwI

Within the piece there is a lovely interplay between the euphonium and an english horn. The duo sounds to me like a conversation between Gabriel and Mary.

Deus ti salvet Maria - lyrics translated from Latin

              God save you Mary
              who are full of grace,
              you are the source
              and the stream of grace.

              The Almighty God
              has been with you,
              therefore He preserved you
              immaculate.

              Blessed and praised,
              most glorious of all,
              Mother, Daughter and Bride
              of the Lord.

              Blessed is the Flower
which is fruit of your womb
              Jesus, Divine Flower,
              Our Lord.

              Pray to your Son
so that all errors of ours
              to us, the sinners,
              may He forgive.

And may He give us the grace
              in life and in death
              and the blissful destiny
              in Paradise"
