Thread: 'Bassquake II' - Tom Davoren

  1. 'Bassquake II' - Tom Davoren

    Hello everyone,

I have been rather taken with this piece entitled 'Bassquake II' which was written by Tom Davoren and premiered by Glenn Van Looy, you can view this clip at the following link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NVlCBOT67o.

I was wondering if any similar pieces existed and what this style of music would be classed as? I think pieces like this are really important during this period when many of us are not able to perform live to audiences and I have a little project which I will hope will expand the repertoire for unaccompanied Euphonium.

    Best Wishes,

    Micah Dominic Parsons

  2. Glenn sounds absolutely spectacular in that recording, as usual!

As far as I know pieces of this sort are usually simply referred to as "unaccompanied" (please correct me if I am mistaken!)

Here are a few different unaccompanied euphonium solos, with links to recordings:

    Nicholas Falcone - Mazurka video
Sunao Isaji - A Trip Around WakuWaku Island video

I'm looking forward to hearing more about the project you mentioned!
