Thread: Euphonium Valve Spacing Chart

    Euphonium Valve Spacing Chart

From the previous thread, I have taken the measurements and put them in spreadsheet format. I'll close the previous thread, so all updates can go below in this thread. The measurements vary in accuracy for understandable reasons, so multiple measurements were reported, I averaged them all, rounded to 2 decimals. The measurements represent the distance from the center of valve 1 to the center of valve 3.

I just measured my Jinbao stencil horn (branded as Monzani MZEP-1150L). I get 6.40 cm.

I also measured the distance between 1&2 and 2&3 and found the 1&2 combination to be about 0.05 cm further apart than the 2&3 combination. That might be within the range of manufacturing tolerances, but 20 thousandths of an inch seems a little much. Anyway, it's probably a little better to have the 2&3 spacing less than 1&2, at least as far as my fingers are concerned.

I just factored that in. Thanks.

When I get a chance I'll check to see if my valves are different for 1-2 and 2-3. That would be interesting.
