    How to Handle Elision and Not Pass Out

    Most of have run across elision in musical form, but the name may not be familiar. It's when the last notes of one phrase are shared with the first notes of the following phrase. Normally, the phrases would be connected, but such end-of-phrase moments are when a wind player might hope to breathe! Here is a discussion and demonstration of elision, and examples of how a wind player might handle it when needing a breath.
