Thread: New Music Query

  1. New Music Query

    Hello everyone,

I have recently been on a commissioning spree, commissioning quite a lot of music and I wanted to share what a rewarding and positive experience that it has been so far and how much I am looking forward to seeing the final product.

I was hoping to share the pieces which I have commissioned over the past number of years.

Euphonium Solo: A Celtic Rhapsody - Iain Rayner.
Euphonium Solo: Song of The Highway - Andrew Mackereth.
Duet for Violin and Euphonium: A Londonderry Jig - Jonathan Mead.

I was hoping to explore other individuals commissioning experiences in the hope of creating a thread of advice for future players to read.

  5. Hello Don,

This is superb, the list of music that you have commissioned is really impressive! I really want to have a catch up with you to get some advice for creating a commissioning consortium.

I really hope to see these pieces played more often in the near future and I am looking at various ways in which I may be able to promote these new pieces of music so they become more widely played.

I really hope you are keeping well and I hope we can catch up soon.

    Best Wishes,

    Micah Dominic Parsons

The opening phrase of “Bach in Brooklyn” is the second menuet from Bach’s first Cello suite. I commissioned it to play at the wedding of a section mate in a band I used to play with. He liked Bach.
