    Euphonium chamber music repertoire

    Hi!

I'm a freshman at college, and am the first euphonium student my college has admitted for many years. The faculty planning our chamber music ensembles have had a bit of trouble finding relevant repertoire for me as a euphoniumist. Therefore, I simply wonder if any of you have any knowledge of such repertoire. Preferably for a brass group, but anything is of interest! I know about the Böhme sextet, maybe there are other pieces in which the bass part is suitable for a euphonium?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

One good source of rep would be the British publishers' brass quartets. Traditional British brass quartet includes 2 cornets, Eb horn, and euphonium. Then the problem would be finding a horn player who can read from an Eb part, or who owns an alto horn (called tenor horn in the UK). There are original works and transcriptions available.

Some of Cimarron's catalog might work well:

These would be written more the American players (i.e. horn parts in F). Some of them call for euphonium. And they have brass sextets as well:

There is a lot of stuff on this site:

You will find many different ensemble types and many with euphonium. Look around the site, there is much there. What school are you going to? In Sweden? Are the faculty trying to form a chamber ensemble with you and other "brass" players or something else?

    Thank you for your replies!

Should've thought about the British quartets! Lots of good stuff, and Eb parts shouldn't be too much of a problem. Some of the sextets look interesting as well.

Exactly, I go to the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. I'm not entirely sure actually, reckon a brass group would be preferable but maybe other combinations might be an option. Some of the trios on Just for Brass look especially exciting.

These tips help a lot, thanks!
