Thread: WTB King 1130 Flugabone

  1. WTB King 1130 Flugabone

I am looking for a King 1130 Flugabone in nice condition. If anyone has one they would like to sell or knows of someone who has one for sale, Please let me know. You can PM me and I will answer. Thanks, Nelson. Have a good day.

  2. Just a tip. As soon as you call it a flugabone, the price goes way up. I just bought a Blessing marching baritone. Same configuration. Sounds great and with a Bach 12C mouthpiece, easily get's that trombone sound. I bought mine for just under $200. A little worn but the valves have great compression and the horn has very good intonation.

  5. Here's one more tip. Unless you're totally wedded to the King, keep on the lookout for an Olds like the one in the ebay link (or a Blessing or Bach, which were made with the Olds tooling and are basically identical). Fantastic horns. Much nicer than the King in my opinion. About the best flugabone/marching trombone you can buy.

The Olds marching trombone is based on the Olds valve trombone, which is also one of the best valve trombones out there. It has a .515 bore so tends to blow more openly. A lot less stuffy than the .500 King.

Marching baritones are a different beast altogether. Often cheaper than marching trombones, but a very different sound. They have a conical bore, unlike the marching trombone, which is just a valve trombone with a different wrap.

I sold my olds valve trombone in favor of an olds marching trombone. They sounded almost identical, but the marching trombone is more ergonomic and much more convenient size-wise.
