    Where to get boxes?

I'll put this here as it is sales related... where on earth do you get decent boxes to ship Euphoniums in?

I called around to the local places I would normally get moving boxes and when I gave them the dimensions of the horns, they just said they have nothing big enough.

Go to U-Haul and get a wardrobe box and then cut it down a little to size. They work great. Have used them multiple times. Of course you need to pack the horn carefully in the case with padding, then pad the entire case, then place the case in the box with peanuts to fill it. Have had NO problems with this method.

one thing you can do is buy more instruments than you sell, so you always have a fresh supply of boxes coming in.

    just kidding. sort of.

u-haul does have a good selection, though.

I also buy from uline sometimes ( https://www.uline.com/ ), they have an extremely wide selection. But you will get their giant catalog for the rest of your life.

I like the way you think

I had already checked with moving box supply places and UHaul was one of them but they seemed to think they didn't have anything, but maybe they weren't thinking "wardrobe box" so I will look more carefully at those

If you want info on how to best pack a horn to ship, Norm Pearson has 10 yr old thread on TubeNet that’s still there. He shares some great pictures too. Be sure to scroll past the ads for more pictures and posts from others. Good luck.

There might be big box (haha) music retailers that could be willing to part with some of their euphonium/tuba boxes from shipping. Check with them!

And if you use peanuts, do your seller a favor: place the padded case in a large garbage bag before filling in the box with peanuts. That way they can extract the prize without having to pick zillions of jumping, staticky peanut bits off of the horn (and everything else that they jump to).

Excellent point with the garbage bag!
