Thread: WTB: Used Compensating Euphonium

  1. WTB: Used Compensating Euphonium

EDIT: The deal kind of fell through, but on the bright side i have 1.9k on hand right now! If anyone is willing to sell their old compensating horn to me that'd be great! again, I DO NOT care about aesthetics! As long as it sounds how it should, there is no problem!

Hi! I've kinda been a lurker on this forum for years and finally decided to sign up!

I'm hoping I can find a good deal today for a used compensating Euphonium! I currently live in florida and have recently graduated high school! I am aspiring to make it into the army band like a friend of mine has who coincidentally is the same age as me!

I currently have $1700 on hand after saving up! It was going to be more until this covid business happened and the summer job I planned to get was canceled.

Hi Snorlax! I actually have already been reading all of your very extensive reviews of the horn and am still following those threads. But in this scenario, it just isn't my cup of tea. I'm looking more into the used market rather than new because I know all new horns in this price range are usually Chinese stencils with either really good quality control or none at all like the ones on ebay. I don't really care if the horn is 20 years old as long as it plays well, is compensating and comes from a reputable brand

  4. I guess I should also put a headline that I don't care for aesthetics such as lacquer wear or plating wear, or even the few dents. As long as it plays great and no dents are affecting sound too much or any at all. I will say I'm not looking for a horn that has silver plated valves like the 70s-80s Bessons, Imperials had it i think?. I know all too well most of those have fared horrendously by now lol.

I don’t visit TubeNet too often anymore but happen to see a used Yamaha 642 (lacquer) for $2400. From the one picture he shared it looks to be in excellent condition. I do not know the seller but he’s located in Flagler Beach, FL.

Here is a Besson 3+1 compensating for sale on craigslist in Florida - price is $900. Serial number indicates it is a 1967 horn.

Wow! Thank you everyone! I don't think I'dve been aware of these deals! I never really browse tubenet and honestly I never thought anyone would list a horn on Craigslist!

  9. Hi everyone I ended up talking to the seller of the old Sovereign, and am going to purchase that now! Consider my inquiry done!
