Hello everyone,
I have received quite a bit of interest in my new Silver Plated Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium which I received from the Besson Factory on Saturday 3rd October 2020. As most of you will know, I was lucky that my new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium was a special custom order that included the changes made to the new Gold Lacquer Besson Prestige 2052-8G Euphonium.
The date as I write this is Saturday 31st October 2020 and I have had my new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium for around twenty nine days and during this time I have been able to test all aspects of this stunning instrument.
On Saturday 3rd October 2020, I was asked to help a friend select a new Euphonium and after an extended period of testing a range of Euphonium's my friend settled on a new Gold Lacquer Besson Prestige Euphonium. It was after this testing period that I was able to test my brand new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium from playing my very first note on this new instrument I knew I was playing something quite special. After some further testing which included excerpts from a brand new Concerto for Euphonium which is currently being written I wrote to Steven Mead to say how impressed I was with the instrument and how much I was looking forward to showing him the new instrument.
The decision to get a new silver plated Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium had been weighing on my mind and I was still in two minds if I had made the right decision to have these modifications made especially considering the popularity of the new Gold Lacquer Besson Prestige Euphonium however all these concerns vanished as soon as I played the first notes on my new Euphonium.
On Sunday 4th October 2020, I visited Steven Mead so that he could test my new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium, we spent quite a period of time testing this new instrument before playing some duets, I was struck by how evenly matched both instruments were in terms of sound and tonal quality.
Over the course of the past few weeks, I have continued to test and explore my new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium and I still continued to be blown away by the instrument as a whole. The sound and tone is as expected with the traditional Besson sound. This instrument feels like a sports model Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium as it responds in a similar way to the current Besson Sovereign 967T Euphonium. The instrument is so free blowing throughout the whole range which I honestly found to be really surprising!
The mechanics are as expected and work perfectly. I have honestly been blown away by this new instrument. It is really amazing to see how innovative Besson continue to be!
I wanted to show a few pictures of my new Besson Prestige 2052-2 Euphonium for future reference.
Best Wishes,
Micah Dominic Parsons
