Thread: Compositions by Japanese Composers

  1. Compositions by Japanese Composers

Hi everyone! I want to share a personal project I've been building on and off for about a year: This a spreadsheet compiling works for euphonium by Japanese composers, including original compositions and pieces arranged for the instrument. There are different sheets sorted by instrumentation, and you can view different sorting options through the "filter view" tab under the "Data" pulldown menu.

I've tried to include helpful information on recordings (if available) and where to purchase the pieces, particularly if they're available outside Japan.

My hope is that this can be a useful resource for anyone looking for new repertoire to program in recitals and concerts, or if you're just looking for some new pieces to listen to!

This is most certainly still a work in progress, so there will be pieces added as I find them!

If anyone has feedback on edits and improvements to the layout and/or formatting, please let me know! I'm always looking to make it easier to navigate and use.

That is a tremendous resource!! I hope it will stay visible and easily findable in this post. It looks like you can download the file into an Excel spreadsheet which I did.

Yes, great resource indeed! Our band director is a director of Bravo Music here in the USA. I see Bravo (or Brain) listed as a source on some of these. Nice job!

    Hi FujiFilm,

    Here's one you can add:

    Suite on Celtic Folk Songs
    TATEBE, T - Bravo/Brain Music

This a a great piece for band.

  6. Thanks everyone! I do plan to keep it readily available as a resource to access, as well as keep updating it with new pieces.

And Rick, that's awesome that your band director works for Bravo Music! I've bought a few pieces through their website. It's a great company!
