Thumbs up FS: Besson New Standard 1974 in Lacquer - Very Good Price - DON'T WAIT!

This horn is in very nice shape as far as I can tell. Valves look pretty good and seller says the compression is great. It comes with a modern Besson case, which is a benefit. The buy-it-now price is $2,199.99, which is really good. Do NOT wait if you want this kind of horn because I think it will sell fast.

    SOLD FOR $2199

  2. Dave,

The lacquer on this horn looks surprisingly good. In those days, Besson used nitrocellulose lacquer, which did not hold up nearly as well as modern epoxy lacquers.

Yeah, but I learned that hard way while in college to not leave it soaking in a tub of hot water! I came back an hour later and most of the lacquer was floating in pieces on top of the water. That gave it a certain...character.

I learned that using bug repellent meant permanent "fingerprints" in the lacquer and sticky fingers!
