    Engraving on Conn Baritone Horn

1942 vintage CG Conn Bb Baritone horn....20 inches in length, 8.25 in bell.
    Serial number on Bell
So called "Naked Lady" I think designed by Conn Engraver, Jake Osborne
U.S. indicating a military use. It is my understanding, that only horns destined for military use had the serial numbe4 on the bell.
Any info as to how many like this might have been made in 1942 would be a great piece of info.
    Thanks,
    Bill

Generally, almost all horns produced from '42-'45 were sold to either Military (US Quartermaster Corp) or Federal purchasing agencies. I don't know of any way to tell quantities.

Thanks for your speedy resonse.. I do know that generally by May of 42, production was slowing down and for the most part stopped by the end of June. !nteresting piece of Conn history. I'd love to find out where this horn has been and what it saw! Thanks Again!

With an 8-1/2" bell, it probably is a Bb tenor horn.

Baritones were a couple inches larger.
