Hi All,
Thank you for allowing me to join this forum !
Not wanting to commit a faux pas, that's French for dumb mistake, on my first day, I'll simply ask....Is there a proper place on the forum for a newbie to ask questions about a baritone horn?
I am a collector of instruments and of the ones that I own, my recently acquired 1942 era Conn Baritone is one I feel a strong kinship to. I am learning to play it.
Anyway, if you could lead me in the right direction, I would be most appreciative.

I suppose the Euph Brands category is a good place for questions about a particular horn. I assume the instrument you have looks something like this (although perhaps with a straight bell):



It is often called a baritone or an "American baritone" but is really a small euphonium. You can see what I think so by looking at this article on the main site:

Yes, But Bell up. looks like a British baritone.

And if you want to hear it at its best, find vintage and original mouthpieces to use with it. I've acquired both Conn Baritone 1 and 2 as well as a Conn euphonium mouthpiece. They really work better on the old girl. Best of luck with your new horn and have fun.

Thanks Richard...its got an alto/tenor horn mouthpiece in it now....i have a vintage baritone horn mouthpiece coming in. The horn is CG Conn 1942. I am having fun but It will be better on my lip when I have a deeper cupped mouthpiece!
