How to Set Tuning for 3 or 4 Valve Instruments

I took time to talk about tuning a brass instrument. Some theory, but mostly just step-by-step advice. Here is the video:

Some would object to using a tuner during a rehearsal, but there is a good value in doing so. You may learn more about some of the challenges of tuning with an ensemble.

I have a non-compensating instrument. This is the first time I noticed that compensating ones have those extra slides! Go figure why they cost more. Especially relative to the extra materials needed to make them (I heard the skill level and time to make them goes up by no small factor compared to the materials cost).

As for tuning, I've seen at least 3 or 4 members in my community band use them. Did you have any comments on tuners available via apps for phones and tablets? I'd imagine it's harder to work with since there are so many apps, and the large variety of hardware available makes all the more difficult.
