    Giddings

So after doing some research, I've decided I want to upgrade to a Giddings when I get a new horn, I know that mark jenkins plays on an E-2 and I know that I want a bigger mouthpiece than I have right now, which is a 51d, (I have played on a warburton demondrae and loved it) but do you guys know any other giddings I should be considering other than the e-2?

I got a lesson from him during the most recent army tuba euph workshops (in February I think) and he was playing an exl. It’s like that mouthpiece, but with a HUGE throat. It’s what I play on now and I like it. You can use a ton of air and it’s also the only mouthpiece that I like on both euph and tenor trombone. It feels like I’m resonating the horn more easily than on my 51d. I used to play a kadja exclusively, but I greatly prefer the exl now. The schilke did sound much sweeter than any of the stainless steel, which is super responsive, but doesn’t play with the same overtones and “sweetness” as a regular mpc.
