    Euphonium/Ocarina duet

Most interesting duet I've heard in a while:

The Shoichiro Hokazono channel is worth listening to. There's an especially nice Sparke 1st Euphonium concerto played with a wind band:

I really love this concerto, especially its beautiful slow movement.

Thanks - that's pretty cool! The Japanese have some fantastic ocarina players (and some kinds interesting looking ocarinas, too), and the combination works well. The ocarina has a fairly strong sound and is well removed from the euphonium octave, so balance is not a problem and the two seem to work well together. I would not have dreamed this combo up by myself!

Beautiful. I loved it!! I live in South Dakota which has a pretty sizeable Native American population. I have found several of those folks to be very good on ocarina. That is really a lovely instrument when played well. Euphonium seems to go well with most any other instrument.

      Thanks for sharing, John!
