FS: Besson 3-Valve Compensating Euphonium

This is a silver horn (had to tell from the photos) and I don't see much to worry about. Not much denting and the finish looks good. A hard case is included in the photos, but there is not enough shown to know the condition - look OK from what I see. The logo is just a bit different from what I usually see, but it is a New Standard. The valves look good. For those who are not familiar with this model, the compensating system makes it in tune for 13 and 123. The lack of a 4th valve is not usually a problem in typical concert band literature and/or many solos, and it makes the horn lighter and a bit more responsive.

Excellent horn and price. These were often used as Intermediate horns by high schools in the 60s and early 70s. The only problem is that are more difficult to march with than American style. There is not a false tube full handle behind the valves, just a thumb ring. When marching with these, the thumb gets tired. I marched for 2 years in the Cal Band with a bell front version of one of these.

The logo appears to be that used by Besson in the British market as opposed to the ‘50 Medals of Honour / Besson / London-Paris-New York’ logo typically found stamped on the horns distributed in the US.

Finish appears to be the frosted / satin silver with bright highlights.

Owner states it has a large shank mouthpiece receiver.

Also note the valve guides are plastic.
