Thread: Besson 4-Valve Compensating in Lacquer - 1967

Thumbs up Besson 4-Valve Compensating in Lacquer - 1967

This one is in decent shape and I don't see any red flags. I have asked the seller for photos of the pistons. The 4th valve doesn't have the original finger button but the other three do. Seems to include a more modern Besson case. Starting bid is $750 and the buy-it-now price is only $1,200!

    SOLD FOR $1,235 (?)

  2. Dave,
Based on age, would this be a large shank or European shank for the mouthpiece?
    Thanks!

Besson switched to the large shank around 1974 so this one should be medium.

The seller supplies a photo of the valve, which I added above. They look pretty good, with some light pitting (as far as I can tell). My school horn at Iowa looked a bit more pitted, but the valves were no problem and sealed well. It also appears they replaced the valve guide on #4 with a more modern plastic guide, but the other 3 appear to have the original brass guides.
