I haven't played a euphonium in about 40 years, my oldest son is a trumpet player in college and talked me into playing. I bought a used plastic one and I found out I missed playing, I bought a Wessex dolce and I really like it, my wife even tells me to leave the door open when I'm practicing. I'm very glad my son talked me into it, now to get good enough to play with him.

We have cats. Zazu the torty leaves the room, but she's not panicked; it's like she remembered something else that she had to do. Fiona the odd-eyed white is deaf; she couldn't care less.David Bjornstad

My favorite dog at rehearsal story: Carl the drummer used to play with one head on the bass drum, the other side open and a pillow stuffed inside to dampen vibrations. So the band was rehearsing at my house, took a break, and unbeknown to us my little long-haired dachshund Max got into the practice room and curled up behind the pillow. We came back in, and no one noticed Max. Carl sat, did a warmup on the snare, hit the bass drum pedal - and all of a sudden, with a little affronted "yip," Max ran out, turned around and glared at the bass drum...Dean L. Surkin
