Looking for brass ensemble (not brass band) music

Our community band is trying program a brass ensemble piece for our next concert. Does anyone have a recommendation — preferably, with a good euphonium part, of course! It should be scored for traditional wind band brass (i.e., no E flat trumpets, etc.)

    Thanks,

    Mike

      Hi Sara,

Do you know the arranger? The version I found requires E flat trumpets.

      Thanks,

      Mike

The Holst Planets isn't a "brass ensemble" piece, although that suite, particularly the Mars movement, has good brass parts and a great tenor tuba (played on euphonium mostly) part. If I understand that you are looking for something for the entire brass section of a typical wind ensemble, here are a couple places to look:

        https://cherryclassics.com/collections/large-ensembles

        https://www.cimarronmusic.com/brass/...ensemble-large

Both of those places have tons of music for large brass ensembles.

Here is Holst (six of the planets) for large brass ensemble: https://cherryclassics.com/products/2429

Ralph Sauer, former principal trombone of the L.A. Philharmonic did the arrangement/transcription. You can purchase each of the 6 planet transcriptions separately.

The Planets may not be, strictly speaking, a brass ensemble piece, but I have enjoyed every arrangement of Jupiter that I have heard. Mars does have some meaty brass parts. Personally I find Jupiter to be more fun to play and hear. And it can let the brass, especially the euphonium, shine. I figured that it would be easy enough to find as I remember playing it in high school. That is a stage where you have to be flexible about instrumentation. There were no Eb parts, except for the alto saxophones, so I figured that the original poster could find something that suited his/her particular group. Unfortunately, I don't know what arrangement the Mighty Antelope Brigade (ra, Ra, RA!) used (laugh).

Thanks Sara. But, I am looking for a brass ensemble piece. Not a wind band piece with good brass parts. Maybe my question wasn't clear.

Thanks John. I am not specifically looking for the Planets. That was just brought up in another response. I looked at the Ralph Sauer arrangement of Jupiter. Terrible euph part!

That's why I gave you the links to the two publishers who have a ton of large brass ensemble music.

I play in this type of ensemble. Some good stuff here, scored and arranged for brass:
